Space Available

“Space Available,” a short film before Wednesday afternoon’s

debut of “Slipdream,” did a wonderful job conveying

the seriousness of Earth’s over-population problem.

Will there be enough space in one mother’s geographic

region for her baby to live? Or will the U.S. government

kill the baby at birth? Will an older man in the hospital

die and allow the baby to live? What viewer could be left

without a sense of how dire the Earth’s population problem

has become? Could the U.S. government decide

whether or not a mother’s child would live? Who knows. I

hope the world addresses the questions before it comes to

such extreme measures. During the 15 minute film, Earth’s

population increased by 2,014 people.
